To leverage the research resources of Peking University in women, children, and reproductive health, and to provide research support to frontline experts engaged in clinical care in these fields, Peking University Institute of Reproductive and child Health, successfully held the Practical Research Training Camp on Women, Children, and Reproductive Health in collaboration with the Continuing Medical Education School of Peking University in September 2024.
The training program was structured into three main modules: research topic selection and scientific design, statistical methods and practical exercises, and project proposal and scientific paper writing. The program combined theoretical lectures with practical teaching to thoroughly address challenging issues in research practice related to women, children, and reproductive health. Participants received one-on-one feedback and guidance on their proposals and scientific papers. Professor Li Zhiwen from the Institute of Reproductive and child Health at Peking University served as the Chair of the Academic Committee. The instructors were primarily from the Institute of Reproductive and child Health, the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the School of Public Health, and the Third Hospital of Peking University. Director Wang Lili of the Continuing Medical Education School and Director Li Hongtian of the Institute of Reproductive and child Health attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
In this training program, clinical obstetrics and pediatrics and public health professionals each comprised half of the participants, with 40% holding senior professional titles and 90% possessing postgraduate degrees or higher. During the three and a half days of learning, the participants attended lectures attentively and engaged fully in interactive sessions. After classes, they engaged in enthusiastic discussions and in-depth exchanges with the instructors, displaying a remarkable spirit.
The original intention of this training program was integration and transformation. Integration refers to breaking down disciplinary barriers, allowing the wisdom of public health and clinical medicine to blend, and deeply combining research methodologies with clinical healthcare practices. Transformation aims to help participants refine their research focus, enhance their research capabilities, and conduct studies that are profound, passionate, and of high quality. The participants expressed great satisfaction with the teaching management and thoughtful services provided during the training, and the program received enthusiastic feedback, successfully achieving its intended goals.
The training program also included a special arrangement for on-site teaching and a study tour at the Institute of Reproductive and Child Health at Peking University/National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Reproductive Health.
